As members of the New York metropolitan community, we at WeiserMazars are committed to the cause of environmental consciousness. WeiserMazars green initiative is comprised of a committee of WeiserMazars employees dedicated to planning and implementing a “Go Green Be WeiserMazars” strategy, backed by the commitment of employees and clients, alike. The Green Team focuses its efforts on researching the environmentally-friendly practices WeiserMazars has in place and identifying areas in which the firm can improve. Green Team campaigns, such as Reduce Your Use: Paper Reduction, have had a positive and institutionally-changing impact on the firm’s paper consumption.
WeiserMazars Green Team believes that if one individual can make a small change, collectively, the firm can make a big difference. We count on the participation of all employees to reduce our impact on the environment both at the office and beyond the walls of WeiserMazars.
Ten Ways We Go Green at WeiserMazars
- Turn off lights when leaving a room for more than 15 minutes.
- Turn off your computer and the power strip it’s plugged into when you leave for the day.
- Print on both sides of paper when possible and avoid unnecessary color printing.
- Go paperless when possible, making it a habit to think if you really need a hard copy before you print something out.
- Pay bills online which is quicker and easier and doesn’t waste paper.
- Try to recycle anything you want to discard that is in your possession. (i.e. paper, junk mail, etc.).
- Think about how you eat by bringing your own reusable utensils to work, when possible, and switching to Fair Trade and organic coffee and tea, if available.
- Rethinking travel by opting to take mass transit which helps reduce fuel emissions into the air and utilizing videoconferencing to minimize unnecessary travel for other employees within the company.
- Flying less. Train travel is up to 10 times more energy efficient than plane travel.
- Creating a healthy office environment through the use of non-toxic cleaning products in your cubicle and plants to help absorb indoor pollution.
